The Lilac Fragrance of Lovech

	Lovech is the capital of the Province of Lovech. Its flag is purple, and bears the so called coat of arms in gold. The emblem was designed by Tosho Mihaylov and was adopted during the communist regime. The colour of the flag was chosen because the nickname of Lovech is The Town of Lilacs.

Places	Hissarya The roman citadel ‘Hissarya', situated on the similarly named hill, was particularly prominent for the establishment of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Here, in 1187, the peace treaty between Bulgaria and the Byzantine Empire was signed and the independence of Bulgaria was officially declared.	People
