Lovech is the capital of the Province of Lovech. Its flag is purple, and bears the so called coat of arms in gold. The emblem was designed by Tosho Mihaylov and was adopted during the communist regime. The colour of the flag was chosen because the nickname of Lovech is The Town of Lilacs.

Varosha

VaroshaArchitectural and historic reserve since 1969, “Varosha” residential area is located in the old part of the town. VaroshaIt is connected with the town center (which is on the other side of the Osam river) via a monumental pedestrian bridge - the only covered bridge on the Balkan peninsula. “Varosha” is peculiar with its architecture from the Revival epoch. Landmarks are the expositions “Drasova house” and “Rashova house”. VaroshaThe first one is established in 1973, and presents the life style of a rich commercial family from the end of XIX-the beginning of XX century.

The West-European influence is represented. Exposition “Rashova house” is established in 1983. It presents the organization of a house of an intelligent person from the town of Lovech from the 30s and the 40s of XX century.
